"The 2016 Seattle Mariners!"

Jerry Dipoto

General Manager Seattle Mariners

Introduced by: Bob Holert

Jerry Dipoto’s talk this morning was an amazing rendition of the ground works how the Mariners got to where they are and a sample of what is to come.
Goal this year for the baseball team is to increase athleticism, variety of skills and most of the planning has worked. Mariners are #1 and the only team in the big leagues that has an above average in all 3 categories of pitching, hitting and defense.
The team for the first time spent one hour each morning just getting to know each other. Each team member was asked to stand up and take a moment to tell about themselves. All of a sudden the team really got to know one another and we have so much fun together. Motto – Find a way to say “YES”. Find a way to speak to the media, find a way to sit with Make a Wish. Robbie Cano went to the mall and purchased super hero shirts or every person on the team. A real encouraging moment.
The boys are having fun this year and I hope you are having fun watching them.
Q – Why are we having so few steals and so many home runs? A – The team is healthy and the home runs have come from EVERYWHERE! The team was built for a ball park and we are very much left handed.
