William "Bill" Rahr Jr.
Skipper and Teacher Sea Scouts and Sammamish High School
Introduced by: Ann Norman
Skipper Bill Rahr will discuss: “What is a Sea Scout, What do Sea Scouts “do”, Sea Scouting in Bellevue, 58 years’ worth”. He will be accompanied by two of his scouts – Alex Brown and Zach Johnson.
About the Speaker
Bill and his parents moved to Bellevue and Phantom Lake in 1957. He considers himself the “Last of the Bellevue “small farm" boys”. While attending Tillicum Junior High, he paddled a canoe across the lake since it was faster than walking. His High School job was at the John Danz Theatre.
Being true to his roots, Bill attended Washington State University (farm boy becomes a Coug!). Bill married a Cop (Deputy) and they raised two boys on Phantom Lake. Bill still walks home (Mom and Dads) from Sammamish High for Monday dinner.
Bill has taught at Sammamish High School for the last 30 years. He has been a Sea Scout on the Argo since age 14.
And he has lots of Scouting experience - Cub Master, Asst. Scoutmaster, Sea Scouts- Mate, Skipper, Scouting Merit Award, Venturing Excellence, Sea Badge, Silver Beaver,
