Mark McDonald

Entrepreneur/Problem Solver Youth News Network

Introduced by: Bob Holert

When Mark started working in high tech he quickly found many projects, products and even companies presented interesting challenges. Deliverables, budgets and schedules were poorly defined and executed.

As a consultant, father and Native American, Mark studied software development, project management, business strategy, culture and communication. He soon developed a reputation as a person able to turn around large projects and companies.

Today he will share how to create a cultural framework in the workplace, community and home to insure success and build lasting value. Expect some humor, interaction and time for questions.

About the Speaker

Mark worked in software development, technology management and consulting for 28 years. His clients included Microsoft, Boeing, CB Richard Ellis, JD Edwards, Chase, Magnusson Klemencic, NBBJ, Swedish Medical Center and numerous other companies.

As a consultant, Mark specialized in turning troubled companies and projects, ranging from several million up to more than one billion dollars in value, into successful ventures. This included leading international product development teams.

While working in high tech, Mark had the opportunity to participate in teams tasked with enterprise change management. These efforts included business strategy, technology investment, defining and building corporate culture, and branding.

Mark is the business development lead for his son’s company Big Red Bell. Big Red Bell is an online directory for parents and teachers to find fun and informative educational activities at parks, museums, zoos, trails, and more. He has also started an education non-profit, Youth News Network, to teach research, writing and public speaking using a news style format.
